Get well soon... or else! [8a/?]

Next morning, the anesthesia and medicine had worn off so Alfred woke up to a sore body. He could feel his legs now but trying to move them proved painful so he decided that maybe the controller could be useful for things other than playing after all. Reaching for it he pushed a button and the bed slowly readjusted its position until Alfred was sitting.
The lights were still off and other than the now familiar beeps of the machines and the ticks of the clock not many sounds could be heard. Alfred took a look at the room and after glancing at the usual furniture he was glad to see a TV. He turned it on and flipped through the channels not really paying attention to the programs but welcoming the noise of voices and other sounds that filled the room.
He wondered if Arthur would be coming to check on him soon, besides he was hungry and eager to exchange the IV for something more substantial like waffles. “He should be curious about the end of my story too” He chuckled.
Last night, as he was telling his stories Arthur felt like adding his two cents every now and then. At first Alfred was annoyed with the constant interruptions and questions but after a while he decided that he enjoyed it more that way instead of having a silent nurse just nodding and smiling to whatever he said.
“I wouldn’t mind if he smiled bit more though. All that scowling must be tiring, especially with those heavy eyebrows”
As he was about to start another soliloquy there was a knock at the door and after a few moments it opened revealing the very eyebrows that were on his mind.
“ Hey!” Alfred beamed even more delighted after he saw the food tray on his hands
“Why am I not surprised?” Arthur murmured after a quick glance at the cartoons on the TV. “Good morning Alfred. Would you like to have some breakfast now?”
“You bet. I’m starving” Alfred said not taking his eyes off the tray even once but as it descended to his eye level his eager expression turned to one of slight confusion.
“Uh... are the waffles not ready yet?” He asked the other. Surely Arthur had a weird sense of humor and any moment now his blank face would crack into a smile and he would bring in his real breakfast, right? “I don’t think you are allowed to have those during breakfast” Wrong. So that means that the glass of apple juice, the tiny portion of fruit, the sandwich and the splash of yoghurt were really his complete breakfast.
“This is torture!” He told the nurse with teary eyes that were met with bored ones “You can’t be so cruel. I am really hungry Artie and there’s no dessert!!” He insisted
Arthur sighed and took his seat from the previous night on Alfred’s bedside. “I know it’s not what you would expect after a day without actual food, Alfred but believe me, it’s necessary for the moment. I promise lunch will be better and will include dessert”
“Hmmm” Alfred pouted not really much happier after the explanation. “Please?” Arthur said like he would to any of his stubborn young patients. Probably he just decided that he would get better results if he thought of Alfred behaviour like that of a child.
“Okay...” Finally giving in, Alfred reached for the juice and took a sip. He was rewarded with a “Thank you” and a tired smile.
“You look tired” Alfred commented in between bites “Didn’t you sleep well?”
“Right now I have the night shift so it’s more accurately to say I haven’t slept. Also it was a long night. I had to attend three cardiac arrests among other things” Said the nurse with half lidded eyes
“Oh... but you sleep at some point, right?”
“Of course” Arthur replied “Actually, after you’re finished I am heading back to the hospital dorms and sleep”
“Ah... so you won’t be around this afternoon?” Alfred inquired feeling strangely disappointed
“Don’t worry. Doctor Honda has already assigned another nurse shall you need it and your friends are coming today as well so you won’t be bored out of your mind”
“Hmmm” He continued his breakfast at a slower pace. He was feeling silly for his sudden attachment to the other boy; after all he just met Arthur less than a day ago but he felt so at ease with him, like really old friends or something.
