We All Grow Up Someday [2/9]

I was really debating uploading the whole thing or part by part, lost to myself out of impacience for people to respond, I'm really that bad sometimes *** “Mhmm,” Emma slurred pulling away from Robert’s sweet morning lips, “morning, love.” Robert nestled his way into her neck, humming a similar response, his hands pulling her closer to his body. “Breakfast will burn if you don’t let me go.”
He released her, pecking her softly on the shoulder before he stumbled over to the fridge. “You need to sleep in one day.” He said fishing out some orange juice, before scouting out some clean cup. His eyes caught sight of the calendar, “Oh, Friday, your parents come in.”
Splash! Hiss! Emma jumped back with a scream, nursing her hand from the biting grease, only to ram her head into one of the cabinets. She whimpered in pain, coming to a crouch on the kitchen floor, Robert rushing to comfort her quickly.
She had forgotten, completely forgotten about the whole event, she had planned it a year ago, and that was the only time nothing was happening, and the only time to plan a vacation. Her mother would have scolded her for forgetting so easily like her father. She hoped something would come up and they would have to call it off.
“Let me see your hand, Ems,” Robert said calmly as he gently worked her back to her feet. Running her hand under cool water he seemed to render it as a small burn. Her whole aloofness to the situation caught his attention. “Why are you so nervous about me meeting them?”
Emma fingered the ring on her left hand, feeling like she was letting him down. “I’m afraid of what they’ll think,” she really meant to say “you” but let it go. “Please, don’t think it’s because of your parents, I doubt they’ll care about that…it’s just, they want what’s best you know.”
“And someone studying to be a doctor is not good enough for their little girl,” He said smiling, kissing her burnt right hand and leaving to tend to the cooking breakfast. “Have you told them-”
“No, I wanted to surprise them.” No, she wanted to make sure they really loved each other before she ever told him about her immortal nation parents.
Robert Marks had more then shown he loved her. He had wanted everything to fall into place, all his ducks in a line before he even thought of taking her out somewhere. He bought a small condo close to his classes, and proposed to her at their very first meal in the place, his mothers helped with that. She of course happily accepted, happily tackled by her soon to be mother-in-laws. She didn’t cry either, no just got rice in her eye.
Robert made her very comfortable, and she tried to return the favor, but he always beat her to the punch. At least breakfast was her thing, dinner was his, because she always came lagging home from work.
“Ems, you want to though some bread in the toaster?” Robert asked, throwing her from her musing and letting her leave her thoughts for a while.
