Oh my god, author!anon. You've broken my heart. You've successfully split it into a million different directions, then mashed it with a spoon, and threw it to the dogs for dinner.
...that sounded more morbid typed out than it did in my head, sorry. Haha.
You captured their personalities so well- Alfred's cheerfulness and hopelessness; Toris' thoughts, qualms, empathy, unparalleled kindness/selflessness and self-sacrificing nature. Your writing style is so beautiful that it actually made me sob. No, not "blink back tears" type of sob, but WAIL into my hands and use my sleeves to wipe away my tears. You delved into Toris' mind, and put his emotions on display for the reader to see and empathize with. Amazing, absolutely outstanding. You didn't openly say that Ivan had abused Toris, but your implications were enough. When Toris had the idea to go cook as much as he could for Alfred before he left because teaching him was hopeless, I giggled like some schoolgirl, hehe. :)
But, the final part made me openly weep. The final line broke my heart into a million pieces. You have true mastery of the English language- you can manipulate words in your writing to elicit the desired reaction from your audience. (I'm an English major, so I see these things, haha.) This story initially was adorable and sweet, but then became heartbreaking. You made me smile and cry simultaneously. :(
It was bittersweet, and more than I could have ever asked for. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'm so grateful. :)
