The next morning America nibbled on a bagel as he wandered into the meeting room, several people were already seated but at least he wasn’t late today. He sat down and spotted letter in front of him with his name on the front and sealed with a heart sticker. He ripped it open, already able to guess who had sent it and unfolded the piece of paper inside. On it was the poem,
“Alfred with your eyes of blue, how I do absolutely love you please don’t think I’m a creep I like to watch you as you sleep”
He could feel his eye twitch and he crumpled it before shoving it in his pocket. This was going too far, she watched him while he slept? He was going to have to talk to her after the meeting and straighten things out once and for all.
Russia slid into the meeting room side by side with Ukraine and glanced over at Alfred who met her eyes for a moment before quickly looking away, how cute, he was so shy. She passed the meeting by, listening and watching everyone talk, of course her favorite part was when Alfred stood up and talked about his plan to save the world from deforestation by cloning the trees and having ninjas on patrol to stop people poaching endangered species. He was so vibrant as he spoke and he totally ignored everyone who rolled their eyes at him; they all forgot that when the world was younger they had rolled their eyes at the two idiot countries who dreamed of going into space. America and her were such dreamers, they were perfect together.
When lunch was declared by Germany who looked like he was about to go insane and start shooting everyone or himself, maybe everyone and then himself, Russia rose and decided that she had left her Alfred alone for too long. But to her surprise and pleasure he approached her first and said, “We need to talk in private.”
She giggled, “Your room or mine?” and looked up at him through her long lashes. Though really she was just teasing him because she knew that America was so straightforward that when he said talk he actually meant talk.
He groaned and said, “Just wait until everyone leaves.” The idea of actually going anywhere with her made him want to die.
“I’d wait forever for you.” She would, this man was worth it, he was the only one she had ever felt this strongly for, the only one who could match her in everything.
America rolled his eyes and wondered if he had ever been so annoying to anyone, “Whatever.” When they were the only ones left in the room he got right down to business, “Alright listen you need to stop being such a creep towards me, I’m not sure what your game is but stop it.”
She pouted, “I’m not being a creep, what would give you that idea?”
He clenched his fists, “How am I not supposed to think this whole thing is creepy and how do you know what I look like when I sleep anyway?”
She put a hand on his arm and assured him, “Oh Alfred I have my ways. Don’t worry I think it’s cute that you sometimes sleep with a ragged old teddy bear.”
“Do you have cameras in my room?” Oh god, what had she seen? He was going to make sure to debug his entire house as soon as he got home, but why hadn’t be caught anything in the last annual run through his house then, were they more recent?
“Ah ah ah that’d be telling.” Actually last night had been the first time she had ever watched him sleep. She had picked up the information about the teddy bear from a drunk Arthur who had told her all sorts of interesting things about Alfred when she had asked.
