Jared gave a rare chuckle as he heard the dread in the blonde’s voice, “He entered the home with Mr. England so fortunately there was no incident and everything got sorted out.”
As they idled at a red light Alfred mused, “I wonder how all they all got the wrong keys though?” Usually hotel staff were really good at making sure that everyone got into their assigned rooms.
The light changed and they moved forward again, “Apparently there was some kind of distraction going on when the three women checked in, the receptionist doesn’t even remember giving them their keys at all.”
“That’s weird.” It was also suspicious; maybe Russia hadn’t given up on him and was planning something.
Jared caught the tone in his voice and assured him, “I searched the room after Miss Russia left and there was nothing left behind.” It was actually nice to have something to do besides have coffee and chat with the other guards.
“Thank you.”
Jared nodded and maneuvered to the drop off spot in front of the hotel as he said, “We’re here sir.” and popped the trunk.
Alfred unbuckled his seat belt and then opened the door as he said, “Thanks, wish me luck.”
Jared nodded and said, “Good luck.” as America closed the door.
America grabbed his bag from the trunk and slammed it shut before moving beneath the awning of the hotel. Jared drove away and he took a deep breath to focus himself on the meeting. A hand landed on his shoulder and from behind him a feminine voice purred, “Hello Alfred, I’ve been waiting for you.”
He started in surprise and spun to see Russia smiling at him and then promptly turned away from her, it was best not to encourage her. “Leave me alone this time and don’t make any weird announcements.” He had gotten calls for days, the other countries wanting to know what was going on but he thought he had them all convinced that there really was nothing going on.
Alfred heard the sigh in her voice that seemed to call him a child as she said, “You’re so shy. I won’t if it upsets you so much.”
“Good.” Then he walked off, pushing open the door of the hotel.
As he walked away he didn’t look back and therefore didn’t see the half snarl that formed on her lips, she hadn’t thought that her America would be so stubborn about this, wasn’t it the man who supposed to throw himself at a beautiful woman?
Alfred stopped thinking about Ivana as soon as he saw Arthur sitting in one of the chairs that was situated in the lobby and waved to him, “Hiya Arthur.”
Arthur rose and walked towards him, “Hello Alfred, you’re late arriving, was everything okay?” He had almost been willing to call someone to make sure there wasn’t something happening that he didn’t know about, but he had restrained himself for appearance’s sake.
He nodded, “Yeah just some bad weather on my end, lighting storms y’know.”
Arthur fixed his cuff as he observed, “A bit early in the year for those isn’t it?”
Alfred shrugged and switched his bag to the other hand, “I suppose. Anyway guess who I met at the front door?”
England raised his impressive eyebrows and asked, “Was Russia still out there?” The woman had been out there even when it had been drizzling lightly and had ignored her sister pleading for her to come back inside. He didn’t see what Belarus’ worry had been, Russia had been under the awning after all, a little rain never hurt anyone.
