A Kind of Peace 3/3

It wasn’t as difficult as he had thought it might be. He wasn’t a human man, really. Their kind had bodies that changed as times changed. In the past, England had had wounds open up with nothing to cause them but the strife of his people. He had been bruised, not because of blows but because of politics. Doing this kind of… thing was not so different from having that done to him. It was just a matter of will, really. A matter of realizing what he was, what he wanted. And he was England, doing the best he could to care for a beloved colony.

It was a curious sensation. A small mouth finding his nipple and latching on, and a small tongue searching for a moment before beginning to suck. After that there is nothing… and then a painful tug, tug, tug. A pinch and draw against the skin. Unpleasant at first. But then, a very warm feeling.

For the first few moments, the baby kept his eyes closed. When he opened them, England was struck with the same awe that the wide, clear evening had evoked in him earlier. But this was better. Closer. The child was a warm weight nestled against him, small lips closed tight, pulling so-gently for milk. It made him feel strange. Like there was a heat spreading in the center of his chest, moving out into every part of him. Those eyes were blue-as-blue, blue as anything, wide and adoring. And so there was this moment, while they were looking at each other, when it was only the two of them in all the world, and all they shared was a love full to bursting.

That was wonderful! Exactly what I had in mind! I could feel the warmth and love between the two characters. That just made me all happy inside. I don't know what else to say except THANK YOU for writing such a beautiful little gem.

Of course, now whenever America complains to England about being hungry in the anime, I will forever think of this. ^_^ Hooray!!
