Oh my God this was so beautiful! Once again it struck me how much I love your voices for both Russia and America! I especially like America's sense of humor. It's perfect! It was so precious, and despite this being about a pregnant man, realistic. I think it was in the little details and how you described the emotions through their words. Are any relatives going to stop by to see the baby? That would be so adorable to see Ukraine and England bonding with their new niece/granddaughter or whatever she would be considered . . I also really liked that she got a patronymic, and 'Braginskaya' as part of her last name! I'm curious, though . . . it makes sense that because Aleksey is politically entirely Alfred's kid that he'd just be a Jones, and that he wouldn't get a patronymic like his sister, but what does the 'E.' in his name stand for? At least Khrushchev was in power by the time Aleksey would have been conceived, so America and Russia were on much better terms! ♥ I was so excited to see this updated that I went back and read all the other parts before reading the update! Majorcan birth, Captcha? . . Spain had nothing to do with this!

Thank you so much, anon! I'm glad you enjoyed their voices. I'm pretty self-conscious about trying to do voice well, since it's a pet peeve of mine when everyone in a fanfic (or even worse, a professional novel) all have the same speech patterns, senses of humor, etc.
And hmmm, you actually kind of gave me an idea for the next bit! I think I will incorporate some relatives into what I already have planned for the next chapter. :)

Heh. I told myself I wouldn't reveal the "E." unless someone asked, but here we are! In my headcanon, there's something a little bit mystical about the human names of nations/states/etc. The names they get, especially their first and surnames, are sort of "destined". In most of the cases, the name America wanted to give a state and the name the state 'needed' (for lack of a better term) are the same, but sometimes he feels obliged to give a name that he otherwise would not. That explains why Aleksey was given a Russian name at a time when US-Russian relations were... strained, at best. In any case, the "E" stands for "Evan". Because, even though Aleksey was conceived in a rather unfortunate way (given the parameters of that particular fill, I felt going darker and somewhat disregarding the slight thaw in the Cold War at the time worked better), I thought it would fit with the fic's tone of America blaming the Soviet Union, but not Ivan himself. Also because I like it when America thinks he's being super-duper subtle, but he's still the most transparent thing in the world. Changing one letter, America? Really.
