December, 1995
Taiwan again stared out the window, but this time with a sense of relief instead of disdain. While she wasn't completely content, it was assuring to have some assistance. Her stock market wasn't doing well, flights and ships were having to detour or delay. Maybe after this, China would stop. She sighed, putting her hand against the cool glass, but felt a warm hand on her shoulder.
"You'll be alright," America says reassuringly."Don't worry."
And she really doesn't worry at all for a moment, nodding slowly in response. Taiwan remembered the last time he used this much of his military--the Vietnam War. America was willing to defend her, should China really attack or declare war, and she was thankful.
"I guess..." He begins with a sigh, "I guess I kinda know what you're feeling. I had a older brother too you know, before."
"He was great at first, awesome actually. Cared for me, did all kinds of stuff for me..." As he trails off, the Asian girl could already hear the sadness in his voice. She continues for him, her voice in a whisper.
"...But, after a while, he becomes controlling, unfair, and all you want is to be free of him."
He says nothing, and she keeps talking.
"And that is where the similarities end, America. If I were to rebel, to declare a full independence, things would happen." Taiwan is willing herself not to cry, especially since she's not alone.
I'm not as strong as you, America.
But it's no use, as Taiwan already begins to feel the tears roll down her face. She stays facing towards the window, hoping he won't see. His grip on her shoulders tighten ever so slightly.
"Taiwan..." He speaks softly, gently, turning her around to face him. She doesn't fight, knows its no use, and lets herself sob as he pulls her into his arms.
A/N: orz. I did do some research (read several Wiki articles, but I can't truthfully say i understood what happened exactly), so if some facts or events are off, I sincerely apologize.
I'm not implying that the Taiwanese military is weak, I'm just judging on the size of Taiwan compared to America, so don't kill me for that thought towards the end?
Also, should I make an epilogue or something? China actually got some help from Russia, & Taiwan's relationships with both Japan & America improved. Just wondering. ^^
Oh anon. It's true what you say -- and compared to the PRC military, yeah, Taiwanese military can't hold up. Even America had to have French and Prussian help, right?
The fic feels complete as it is to me, but if you're inspired by the events following, then I sure as hell am not going to be complaining :D

Taiwanese!Anon here is glad to see some love shown for her Nation. 8D Thank you writer!anon you made my day. Though I was about six-year old then and no quiet understood what had happened (still don't now...I failed at politics orz) Thus not much help I can do for you.
There is one thing I had to point out though. The formal openning of Taipei 101 building was on New Year's Eve 2004 and it only finished planning and start the construction in 1998. So basically...yeah.
Despite that everything is great! Love your fic~ *insert heart here*

"I would fight with you against him."
And she knows he would.

Hm, I wouldn't have much of a storyline if I continued, so I'll just leave it at this. (:
