Seeing that he had actually offended her he offered, “It’s really pretty good.” It was, the yolks were cooked just right and he did appreciate the amount of work she had gone through for this.
Appeased she said, “I’m glad.” As a side note she continued, "I made sure to put everything back where it was so you won't have to clean up anything, though you are running low on orange juice."
He nodded, "Right, I think that's already on my grocery list." After taking another bite of toast he asked, “So what did you eat this morning?”
“I haven’t yet, I’ll grab something later.” Or she wouldn’t even bother, Alfred’s birthday party was sure to have more food than any of them could ever eat and she wasn’t too hungry at the moment.
Alfred frowned, “That’s not fair.” It wasn’t right for her to go through all the work of making him breakfast and her to not get any so he cut off a part of his egg and dipped it into the yolk before holding it out and saying, “Here.” She gave him a smile that made his stomach do a flip before she open her mouth. He tried to get it in without any mishap but somehow he missed just a little and she got a smear of yolk against one corner of her lips. With the pad of his thumb he wiped it off and said, “Sorry about that.”
“It’s fine, my turn.” She took the fork from his hand and deftly folded and pierced a piece of bacon and held it up to his mouth.
He leaned forward and ate it before commenting, “This is so weird.” It was also really cute and he honestly didn’t mind doing this but he felt that he should at least say something that didn’t sound mushy. He took the fork back to offer her some bacon as well.
“I think it’s fun.”
“That’s because you’re weird too.” But he said it in a teasing tone so she didn't mind that much, maybe Alfred liked weird.
They finished breakfast and she slid off the bed, taking the tray with her. Right before she left she turned back to she Alfred starring at her and said, “I’ll see you at the party okay?”
He nodded and tried to look nonplussed as he said, “Yeah, sure.” But he was sure that Ivana saw more than he would have liked her to. However she left without a word.
Later that night Francis was surprised to see that several times Alfred walked up and talked to Ivana before walking away moments later and that as the fireworks went off in violent displays of beauty they sat side by side, Alfred occasionally moving away when she got too close, but he never got up and really moved.

August +++++++
Alfred looked up at the small convention center and asked Jared, “Remind why I’m here again?”
Having already answered this question twice on the drive here Jared still dutifully replied, “Because it’s important that everyone who worked on the plan to promote wind and solar energy be at the presentation.”
“Whatever.” He hated meetings where he couldn’t say he was the United States of America and this was one of them, he hated having to pretend that he was only some genius nineteen year old who hadn’t shaken hands with George Washington himself, who hadn’t fought in both World Wars. Hated it so he’d just keep quiet and let Ludwig do the talking. Oh well at least he would get to see everyone for awhile, catch up with England and France and maybe, maybe he could manage a conversation with Ivana. Alfred was starting to get used to her, he didn’t like like her but he could stand to talk to her. He muttered, “Let’s get this over with.” and pushed open the doors.
The air conditioning was a relief after the humidity of the late August air, but maybe if it cooled down a little he could convince everyone to play a game of baseball, he had seen a school field on his way here. He spotted Liechtenstein looking a little lost in the lobby and walked up to her to ask if she needed help.
Ivana wandered into the lobby to see if Alfred had arrived yet, she had had no flight time to work off of because the meeting was in his country and she had no idea where in his vast nation he had been staying prior to this. She smiled as she saw Alfred but frowned when she saw who he was talking to, a girl. Liechtenstein was all cuteness and she wanted to strangle her as Alfred laughed at something she had murmured. She was sure that the little thing was flirting with her Alfred what with the way she was blushing and looking up at him. Well she would just have to make sure that the little thing got the message to back off, she wasn’t worth actually threatening at the moment, besides the fault was also half Alfred’s for actually talking to her. She slide up to them and purred, “Hello there Alfred.”
She was pleased to see how quickly he turned to face her and say, “Hi Ivana.”
Russia gave him a smile and asked, “How are you?” She glanced over to see that Liechtenstein was now glancing between her and Alfred like she wasn’t sure if she should leave or not.
He shrugged, “Fine.”
Wanting to keep his attention she asked, “Do you know what I figured out?”
Knowing her it could be anything but it was most likely weird so he just said, “No idea.”
“Both our flags are red, white and blue, I think it’s fate’s way of telling us we belong together.” She shot a look at Liechtenstein just to make sure she got the fact that their flags were not the same colors and that she wasn’t compatible with Alfred. By this time Liechtenstein was growing pale and shaking slightly. She was a lot like Latvia.
But Alfred didn’t get anything that was going on and said, “If flag colors mattered that much then me, you, England, France plus a bunch of other countries would have to make up some kind of new relationship name to describe us.”
She gripped his arm and tried to make sure that her nails didn’t dig into his arm as she hissed, “I won’t let anyone else touch you or I’ll rip off their hands.” Innocent Alfred was unaware of what he was doing, what it meant to be hers. He should understand though, she should show him. She had even brought exactly the right item, by the end of the night he would know he was her Alfred, and her’s alone.

At that point Liechtenstein got too scared and scurried off. Alfred sighed but didn’t blame her, Russia was being weird again. But at this point he was kind of getting used to it so he just rolled his eyes and sighed before he assured her, “Whatever, I didn’t say that anyone was.”
She smiled and said, “That’s very good.” At some point they were going to have to address the fact that she did not appreciate how flippant he was about relationships, but one thing at a time.
“Right, anyway are you ready for this meeting thing?” She probably was, Russia always seemed ready for everything that happened.
Ivana nodded and gestured towards where the meeting room was, “I am, shall we go there now?” If they got in there now she wouldn’t need to worry about him talking to anyone else where she couldn’t see them.
He nodded, “Alright.”
They made their way to the meeting room and the presentation began. Germany did take the lead and the men did seem to be slowly being convinced but it ran longer than they had planned and by ten o’clock things were finally wrapping up. It took another fifteen minutes before it ended. America frowned in annoyance as they walked out, Ivana noticed and asked, “What’s wrong?”
“I thought that the meeting was going to wrap up soon enough for me to get home tonight.” He really wanted to fall asleep in his own bed, in his own house.
“I’m glad you’re staying here.” For more reasons than he imagined, her plan would have failed if he had left. She would have to remember to thank Germany for being so stubborn about that one point about emissions even though at the time she had wanted to fall asleep where she stood.
He frowned and then sighed, “That makes one of us. Let me call Jared, he’s probably already planned for this, he plans for everything.”
“I’m glad you have someone to take care of you.” Goodness knows that if no one did Alfred would never arrive anywhere on time.
Alfred tried to figure out if that was an insult or not before shrugging and dialing his phone and calling Jared. He was not surprised to learn that a room had already been booked for him and his normal away bag had been packed for him. When he hung up they went to get something to eat. They ate their late dinner together, he occasionally told her to go away but didn’t try to run, she was sure that he knew better than to do so after making her so jealous.
Unaware of anything that was flying through Russia’s mind he bid her goodnight and retreated back to his room. He pulled his DS out of his bag; Jared had even put it in the same pocket as he always did when he packed himself. After about twenty minutes of playing, he could sleep tomorrow in the car; he heard a knock on his door and paused the game before getting up to answer it. Ivana was standing in the hallway wearing a black silk nightdress that barely reached midthigh and nothing else. The contrast of it against her pale skin and hair was beautiful and it was a great effort for him to keep his eyes on her face because damn it he wasn’t going to be a pervert, heroes were not perverts! She walked, no she prowled, closer to him and he took several steps back, the process continued until she was inside. She closed the door behind herself and then stalked nearer to him, a dangerous grin on her face. He gave a nervous grin and asked, “Hey Ivana, what are you doing wearing that thing?”
She cocked her head and licked her lips before asking, “You like it? I’m wearing it just for you.”

Ivana giggled as Alfred's back hit the wall, “Not nearly as nice as what I’m going to do to you.” She was going to blow his mind apart by the end of the night and she wanted to make sure to leave a nice bite mark on his neck, too high for any collar to hide it.
He blushed and asked, “What are you going to do?” Though he was sure that he already had a good idea of what she was planning and while he would admit that some part of him was very interested the majority of his mind was screeching protests, this wasn’t right on so many levels.
She pressed her body against his and purred, “I’ll make sure you never look at another person again since you have me.” There was something beautiful about the way he swallowed at her words and how warm he was against her. She reached one hand down and gave his crotch a squeeze, a promise of things to come.
His eyes widened and he yelped, “Hey!” When she didn't do more than rub against him he decided that she obviously wasn’t getting that he wasn’t interested so he growled, “Back off!” and tried to shove her away.
But she wasn’t having any of that and just slammed him harder against the wall, maneuvering him so that his wrists were caught in her grasp and she worked her hand over his crotch harder. Usually he would be marginally stronger than her but with this kind of distraction she was sure she could win. She breathed into his ear, “Calm down Alfred I promise you’ll like this, after this you’ll see that I am stronger, better than everyone else. I love you.”
He struggled furiously, even as his knees tried to weaken and shouted, “Get off! Let me go!”
A knock sounded on the door and Russia turned her head a little to look at it in annoyance, of all the times for an interruption. That moment of distraction was all Alfred needed, her grip loosened in the slightest and then he broke free and ran, he burst out of the room, not caring that half his shirt was missing and by the time Ivana got to the doorway he was already through the door to the stairs. Arthur stared up from the floor where he had fallen when the door had been slammed open in his face. They stared at each other for a moment, Arthur taking in how flushed she was and her outfit before he asked, “Bloody hell what were you doing?”
She didn’t answer him because she was caught up thinking about how Alfred had run; he had run from her like everyone who wasn’t her sisters did. Suddenly she needed to be with her sisters. Ivana burst past England and ran all the way to Ukraine’s room and knocked hard on the door. Ukraine opened it and saw the state her sister was in and let her in immediately. When the door was shut she asked, “What’s wrong? Why’re you wearing that?”
Truth came pouring out, anger and sadness competing in her voice, “I put it on for Alfred and went to his room and I had him pressed against the wall and was going to show him that he should love me and then he ran away.” Her plan had been perfect, if it hadn’t been for Arthur Alfred would have succumbed to her.
Ukraine tried to speak carefully, not wanting to make things worse, “Love isn’t a war Ivana, and you can’t force him to love you.” She couldn’t blame her sister for thinking the way she did, after all no one could ignore hundreds of years of history where if she had wanted something she had had to take it by force.

Russia frowned and shook her head, “If I just work hard enough I’m sure he’ll see that I’m the best choice out of everyone.”
She was gathered into her big sister’s arms and embraced as Ukraine murmured, “Sometimes love isn’t about what is best for someone.”
Ivana supposed that could be true, Ukraine was always better at things that dealt with emotion, and no one was ever scared of her. But if she was right then- “If it isn’t what should I do?” If it wasn’t about strength than what advantage did she have, what chance was there?
Ukraine looked her right in the eye as she said, “First you need to apologize to him and then you can go from there.” While she was gone Ukraine would have to fill Belarus in on everything that had happened.
Russia nodded and said, “Alright.” Without even bothering to change into something more decent she left. But when she went back to the room everything was already cleared out of it and when she rushed into the parking lot the car Alfred had arrived in, she had memorized the license plate number, was also gone.

The smaller woman hugged her tighter as she assured her, “No sister, you’re the best at everything, don’t worry everything will be fine.” She would make everything fine, no matter what she had to do.
