“But we weren’t done talking-“
“I’m tired, Alfred. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Repeating yourself isn’t going to make me leave.” Arthur turned down the sheets and climbed under them, propping himself up with the extra throw pillows. Alfred ambled on over and stood at the edge of the bed. Arthur looked up at him, eyebrows raised, jaw set. “Good night, I guess.”
“Good night.” The boy stood there for a moment more before leaning down and placing a gentle kiss to the top of Arthur’s head. He righted himself, a hand still on Arthur’s shoulder, and looked directly into Arthur’s eyes.
“I guess you’ll just have to wait for my real confession, won’t you?” The gleam in Alfred’s eyes shone through the reflection of pale yellow lamplight on the lenses of his glasses. It made Arthur shiver. The boy turned to leave, his hand clasping at the door handled before Arthur finally recovered his powers of speech.
“Alfred! Wait--!” He turned back around, his lips curling gently upwards. “Will you-stay here? It seems like we have some more, ah, talking to do yet.” Alfred’s smile spread into a grin as he bounded, not unlike a happy puppy, over to where Arthur was and pouncing on the bed.
“Anything for you, Iggy.”
~~~ All done, anons. I know this ending is not quite...enough. But I'm tired of keeping everyone's hopes up for something amazing. So here's the fluff. Also, I know it's hard to tell, but I was still trying to have Alfred text incorrectly. It just looks like I was lazy, but--oh well. Thank you for the comments and apologies for the fail-status of this fill.
awwww, it's cute! the kind of unfinished ending this anon loves, already resolved, only not in so many words. Alfred is so cute!! I also like that nobody overreacted.
