Alfred holds the box of chocolate, rather fancy with the gold trim he was starting to think, looking longingly at this girl’s chocolate, should he had been more simple? More direct? With feeling? But feeling wasn’t much to Arthur nowadays… and Alfred wasn’t a girl. He wasn’t about to slave away in the kitchen- ah but Arthur had use to do that for him often-
“How about this?”
Alfred looks over to his, this girl clasping the bag of chocolates behind her back, her homemade not just gratitude any more chocolates.
“How about instead of each of us giving these chocolates to the one we like, we do it for each other. That way there’s no way they can outright refuse.”
“Heeeh, how are you so sure this’ll work.”
“First, Kiku won’t refuse any chocolate- not one he thinks from a friend! He’s quite roundabout, and I know someone like you can get the job done.” This odd click with her shoes, feet. Heels?!
“Second, the chocolate you have there is actually for… a boy right? Kiku mentioned you two before! Don’t worry, I’m totally cool about that one of my friends actually is a she sometime she- okay that’s different not the issue-” she goes on a little embarrassed with the look Alfred is giving her a mix of not like at all, and it’s different! “But the person you’re giving chocolate, to- I don’t think he’s gotten much chocolate from girls, so he’ll be surprised if I approach him!”
“Isn’t that the best way? For us… I quite like surprises.”
“I don’t,” Alfred is saying though he does, he really does.
Speaking of which, Arthur should just-
Rises to his feet, “No way! Don’t be a spoil sport,” she teases, he laughs, hands in his coat pockets.
“Fine, we’ll go with your plan.”
Holds out a hand, she grips it, a far sturdier grip than he’d expect from such a delicate looking girl. But the world was full of surprises, wasn’t it?
“Thank you so much.”
They switch chocolates, “For the student council president right? The one with the brow like Hong?”
Alfred thinks it over, “Hong?”
“Ah! One of my brothers! He’s actually half though which is why he has that-“
“Ohh!” Alfred is exclaiming, “You sure have a lot of brothers don’t you!”
“I do!” the girl chirps, then “Oh, that’s right, by the way my name is Mei, Mei Wong!”
Alfred smiles, “Nice to meet you, I’m Alfred F. Jones.”
“The feeling is mutual!” she tells him and Alfred’s hand fall from hers, starts.
Those words, why were they familiar, he’d said them hadn’t he tired, sleepy, warm, happy when- when?
“…is something the matter?”
Alfred shakes his head, “It’s nothing, just a little dizzy for a sec I guess.”
Laughs it off, “And these are for Kiku of course.”
Mei nods, “I’m counting on you.”
Alfred doesn’t need to say the same, all he does is smile at her, she knows. Even if the boat they shared was only similar in that it is was a sinking one.
“Well then” Alfred is saying, heading off, not at all minding that he has a very pink and girly bag tucked in the crook of this arm, who would know it wasn’t his? “I’ll just do it straight away.”
“Is that so?” Mei laughs, following after him shortly.

School has ended and she’d still yet to do it. She’d caught a glimpse of Alfred giving Kiku’s hers, that calm appreciative sweating its way to anxiety, he hadn’t guessed! Though he had looked at the bag rather oddly at first thinking it from Alfred, so funny!
She’s hums her way to the student council room, Arthur is just in there with Veronique who looks surprised to see her, “Can I help you-” she starts when she sees Mei.
Sees arms folded behind her, guesses.
“I’ll go prepare some tea?” she starts but leaves the room entirely; Arthur deeply concentrated in his work, this person huh…
“Excuse me,” Mei starts, Arthur looks up as if he hadn’t known she was there at all, he probably didn’t.
“Yes? What do you need? Do you need to make a complaint? Papers for the upcoming club event?”
She shakes her head, “You only think about work don’t you? Today is Valentine’s day you know!”
