The silence continued, it was deafening to Matthew as he looked down. Guilt riddling his body as he blinked back the beginning of tears. How could he have just said that to Al? Alfred wasn’t at fault here. None of this was his fault. He needed to make that clear. He looked up. He would tell Al what he really thought. Or at least explain things. He just needed to-
“I love you.” There was another silence. Deafening, but for a different reason. Matthew looked up to his brother. Alfred’s hand was moving towards his cheek, cupping it gently before pulling his hand back.
Matthew looked down at that once more. The silence in the air causing goosebumps over his body before he glanced up again, “I…I love you too.” He whispered gently. He then felt his body almost move entirely on its own accord as his lips gently brushed against his brother’s. He pulled back quickly. “I’m sorry! I couldn’t….”
“Shhh,” Alfred paused for a moment. He neared him once more, “It’s okay.” He said softly as his body moved closer to Matthew’s. He leaned, his lips meeting his brother’s once more.
Matthew’s breath caught. Was this really happening? It seemed too good to be true…. He felt strong arms around him. A whisper through the kiss, “I’ll take care of you.” A soft, tender kiss. “I love you.”
