Four Seasons In A Year [10/?] anonymous November 7 2009, 21:29:42 UTC
“I didn't know you have a brother.” Ivan commented as they settled down on Ivan's living room couch. It was only him and Arthur now, Peter having run off to his friend Raivis' house a few streets down.

The blond shrugged, sipping on his black tea (Ivan now kept a variety of tea just for the Englishman). “I have five actually, including Peter.”

Ivan hummed, flicking the channels of the television idly. For a moment he paused, before quietly asking, “...Do they know...?”

He felt Arthur stiffen beside him at the question. Much of the time, they avoided talking about the circumstances and Ivan kept the questions to himself. But they both knew the Russian was going to ask things eventually and that he only waited for the appropriate times to do so. Arthur couldn't blame him.

“Peter does...” The blond whispered. Ivan already knew that. “I do my best to keep him out of it, you know, and that's why he spends so much time with his friend, actually. I would never let him get hurt.”

The Braginski's large hand found the Kirkland's smaller one, and held it gently. It was a comforting gesture that Arthur appreciated.

“And the other four? Do they know?”

Arthur snorted almost bitterly. “No, they hate me and I hate them back. Except maybe for the younger twin, we get along fine. But they're in the U.K., anyways. Not that they'll bother with Peter and I...”

“Why is that?” Ivan asked, curious. “Family should always help each other, da?”

“We're 'only half-brothers.' Peter and I have a different mum than they do.” The president couldn't help but flinch at the memories he had of the others. “It's a bit complicated... My dad was having an affair with my mum while still married to his first wife. I was, ah, born before the divorce was even finalized.”

The television was the only sound in the background. Ivan looked wide eyed and surprised, the remote just about slipping off his hand. He didn't mean to stare, really, but he never realized that Arthur's family was... that complicated - especially since everyone in the Academy believes that his private life was perfect, or close to it.

“Oh.”

Ivan didn't ask anything else.

Uh. The other four brothers would be Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland would be the "younger twin" mentioned, of course.

Is this story complicated enough?

Peter!! He's adorable in this fic~!! So protective of his older brother, such a good kid, though I'm sure he's still a brat.

Hmmm, I like Arthur's family set up. Its believable, very much so actually. I'm happy that this is so well planned out. Thanks for the speedy update! I'm glad I checked back!

I think its just right Writer!Anon!

Could I interject and mention that you have brilliant timing? I was feeling awful before I found this. Thank you!

So cute! I'm liking the relationship they're having at the moment, just working off any tension and suspicion. So adorable!
I can't wait to see the next parts~ ^ ^
