The Wall - Part 3 anonymous October 29 2009, 19:35:29 UTC
Roughly a decade later, Ludwig was woken up to the sound of a certain elder sister of his laughing her head off in the kitchen.

"Wha...What?"

Berlin came out of her room, rubbing her eyes. Not West Berlin or East Berlin any more, but just one Berlin. Ludwig sometimes wondered if she missed being twins, but had never asked. She did have both sets of memories from the time she'd been divided, that much he'd heard, but...

Maria pointed at the newspaper, wordlessly. Ludwig craned his neck.

The German chapter of the Deutscher Orden had declared bankruptcy.

Ludwig sat back and thought about this. Well, it wasn't like the chapters in Austria and the rest of the world had all gone bankrupt at the same time, so the Order itself was still alright, as far as he knew, but...

"A-ha-ha! Do you think I should send him some cookies or something? Who's a cranky baby now, hmmmm..."

"...What about pudding?" Ludwig suggested. "You could drop it off at Roderich's place..."

"I suppose." Maria rubbed her eyes. "He's started sleeping in Roddy's medical cabinet sometimes, since he started going down the charity organization route, I've heard... When he's not sleeping on his Grand Master's desk, that is. Or with the nuns. Some of them can see him sometimes, I think - he likes that. Idiot."

Ludwig hummed, while Berlin - Erika - simply looked amused.

The clouds were racing across the bright skies, work was piling up as always, and his House had still, somehow, managing to not come crashing down around him.

Life was good.

It was an interesting read. A bit confusing, but interesting nevertheless.

I liked it.

I've got a question though, is Maria Brandeburg? It would make sense given that Brandeburg was incorporated in Prussia and that East Germany covered most of its area.

Baby Gilbert = LOVE

Yaaay, Thank you very much!

About the Brandenburg thing, though, that part is a wee bit complicated.

I've posted a Brandenburg and Prussia story in this series (...It's a series? When did that happen?) over here.

And yes, Baby Gilbert is really interesting. I might write more about him, if I can...
