He's my Son [1.5/?] anonymous August 1 2009, 05:41:29 UTC
Walking over to Alfred’s still, very much crying twin, Francis scooped up Matthew. Rocking the boy gently in his arms. “Can you tell Papa what happened, mon lapin?”

“Al-Alfred… He was-He didn’t-I told him not too!” Matthew blubbered. Wiping his tears with his dirt-covered hand. Smearing grime all over his cheeks. “He-He said it would be f-fun. To s-see what was on the o-other side of-of the fence.”

The boy then motioned to the pile of haphazard chairs stacked beside a rotten, wooden fence. The fence encircling the entire backyard. And the chairs from their outdoor patio set. Some of the chairs had toppled. Now lying on the ground in pieces.

“Alfred! That was very foolish of you!” Arthur cried, helping the boy to his feet.

Alfred pouted. “I didn’t climb it!”

Both parents shared a look, before turning to Matthew.

Matthew sniffled. Finally calm enough to be completely coherent. “He didn’t. He just sort of bumped the stack with his elbow. I thought he didn’t hit it hard. But one of the legs nicked him a bit. And then everything went CRASH!”

“A bit, you say?” Francis inquired.

“Yup. Yup. It was so weird, but then the next thing I sees-!”

“I saw, Matthew. Not ‘I sees’.” Arthur cut in.

“Well if you saw, then do I still have to explain?” Matthew innocently asked.

Francis barked out a laugh. Ignoring Arthur’s sputters. “Non, non. Continue, please.”

Matthew blinked. “Okay… So, then Alfred started bleeding. And then you guys came in and… That’s pretty much it.”

Arthur looked down at Alfred. “Is that so?”

Alfred stuck his tongue out, blowing a raspberry.

Arthur’s face colored a nice puce. “You ungrateful brat! Come here!”

Francis and Matthew watched as the two ran laps around them. Alfred in the lead, cackling wildly. With Arthur hot in his heels.

They sighed.

It was just another day in the Kirkland-Bonnefoy (Bonnefoy-Kirkland) household.

I too am loving the characterization and family dynamic. They are so sweet together.

Loved the fear of the ever dreaded wild squirrels! They are a menace to society!

“Oh, shut up Francis. I was three for godsakes! What? A three-year-old can’t have an overactive imagination?”
Now I can't get the image of three-year-old Arthur being chased by a wild squirrel out of my head. xD

Please please continue! This happy-ish part only foreshadowing what is to come. ;A;
