Sweden picked up the exhausted Finland and carried him the rest of the way home. It was cold and the wind had whipped up the snow again. Another few steps and they were home and free from Denmark. A tiny smile tugged at the corners of Sweden’s mouth as he carried Finland over the threshold like a bride, before setting him down on his feet.
“Thanks, Sve…” Finland said. He shivered as the house was cold. Seconds later, he was enveloped in the warmth of Sweden’s coat. He rubbed his hands, trying to regain the warmth he had lost.
Sweden nodded as he set to work building a fire. He had made a promise to himself to look after the smaller country; he had come to think of as his wife. Once he had the fire going, he beckoned Finland over to it…
Sweden stood by the kitchen window, watching the snow fall. He was lost in the memory of the time they had fled Denmark’s house in much the same way he was every year on the anniversary of the day they had arrived home.
“Morning, Sve…” Finland said as he poured a cup of coffee for himself.
“Morning…” Sweden looked over at him, his lips briefly twitching upwards in a smile.
“Whatchya doin’?”
Remembering the day we came home… “Watching the snow fall.”
“It’s pretty, isn’t it?”
Sweden nodded in agreement. But not as pretty as you… He drank his coffee.
“It reminds me of the day we left Den’s house.”
“Me too.”
Finland laughed. “Remember you called me your wife?”
But you are my wife… Sweden nodded.
“In a way we’ve become a family, Sve, with Sealand living here now,” Finland hedged.
“Yeah…”
“I like it,” Finland said softly. I like being your wife too…
“Me too.”
Title: In the Meadow
Characters: Chibitalia, HRE, mention of Hungary and Austria
Challenge: September 2012 Anniversary
Bonus Words: promise, loss, gain, time
Rating: G
Summary: Chibitalia and Holy Roman Empire celebrate the anniversary of their friendship…
Inspired by a drawing of HRE and Chibi by Khaoslager which can be found here:
http://khaoslager.deviantart.com/art/HRE-and-Italia-kind-of-colored-324547186 Chibitalia sat on grass with Holy Roman Empire, enjoying a warm spring day in the meadow surrounding his home. She loved the moments she could spend with him away from the main house and Signore Austria’s and Signorina Hungary’s watchful eyes. Sometimes she would bring her paint box and a canvas, and paint the flowers or the scenery in general or one of the cute little bunnies who lived there.
They were celebrating the anniversary of their friendship with a picnic lunch. Chibitalia knew he had feelings for her, feelings that mirrored her own, even if he never told her about them and that was enough for her. She did not need flowery words of love to know that he loved her.
“Chibitalia…” Holy Roman Empire said.
“Yeah…?” Chibitalia said, her voice catching in her throat. Even though she promised herself she would not cry this time, the tears began to course down her cheeks.
“Are you alright?” he asked, concern clearly seen in his eyes.
She nodded, hoping to gain a few minutes in which to get a hold of her emotions. “Yes…” she said softly.
Holy Roman Empire smiled. It was hesitant and unsure, but when she responded with one of her own, his broadened. Hoping to make her feel better, he stuck his hat on her head.
Chibitalia could not stop herself from giggling. She reached up as if she could not believe she was wearing his hat as their fingers entwined. She felt those rumors she had heard, about him going off to a war that he could very well lose, were false.
Holy Roman Empire thought she looked adorable as always. Feeling somewhat brave, he gave into the feelings he had for her, and leaning forward, he kissed her chastely on the lips…
Title: A Visit from Nonno Roma
Characters: Grandpa Rome, Germany, Italy
Challenge: September 2012 Anniversary
Bonus Words: promise, loss, gain, time
Rating: PG 13
Summary: Grandpa Rome pays Germany another visit in the middle of the night…
“Happy Anniversary!” Roma said as he shook Germany awake. He was so happy his beloved grandson had found such a wonderful man to share his life with, that he felt the need to come down from heaven to visit him again. “Hello, Saint Germany! Wakey, wakey!” He poked him.
Germany, who had been sound asleep, woke with a start. “What the hell?!” He reached for his pistol, pointing it at the intruder’s head. “Oh, it’s you….” He said, lowering his gun.
“Yup! It’s me, Nonno Roma! I just wanted to wish you a happy anniversary!” He beamed at Germany. “You’ve been together with my grandson for how long? Time has no real meaning in heaven, you know.”
“You don’t say….”
“I do!” Roma sat on the bed. “So how long has it been?”
“What been?” A half asleep Germany asked.
“You and my grandson. Have you’ve promised each other your undying love yet? Hunh?”
Germany sputtered.
“Awe… Well, everyone’s loss is my grandson’s gain as they say! I still can’t believe my lil Italy has a saint for a lover! You’re lovers now, right?”
“What the hell are you? Some kind of pervert?!”
“Be still my beating heart! Or not really beating, but you get my meaning, right? So you’re still a real saint, full of virtue?” Roma’s eyes went wide. “That means my grandson is too!” He gently patted his grandson’s cheek.
Germany looked at him like he had three heads. “If you don’t mind… I’d like to go back to sleep.” He yawned for emphasis. The old ghost was harmless, if annoying, and he was one of Germany’s heroes.
“But of course! Sweet dreams!!” Roma hugged him, much to Germany’s surprise. “I guess, I’d better be going, hunh?”
Germany nodded.
“Give my love to him.”
“Will do.”
“Bye!”
