Fun in the Sun 1/2shuriken7July 22 2012, 22:30:56 UTC
It was a beautiful summer day, and Australia enjoyed the sun and the playful sounds from the hotel pool. The beer glass, recently handed to him at the bar, was cool and the drink itself flavorful. He glanced around, trying to find someone who could make things a little more interesting...
He headed towards America and dropped into the pool chair beside him, taking in the several bottles of Coca-cola beside the other nation. America hyped up on sugar always made for a good time. America looked over at him and smiled, "What's up, dude?"
"Nothing much, mate. Just enjoying the boring day." They had been in conferences for days and finally got a break to just lounge about the plush hotel. The sleeping in was nice, but Australia was finding today was extremely dull. It was days like this that his mind started to wander, wondering how he could make it more interesting. America usually made for a good ally for mischief, generally because no one considered him stealthy enough to pull off a prank without seeing him coming a mile away. Australia knew better.
"Yeah, the old men seem determined to show how old they are by staying in bed all day." America said, tilting his sunglasses so they sat on top of his hair. They both watched the other pool goers, and Australia realized he was right... Except for the fact that England had just made an appearance. It would definitely make the day more fun is he could raise his big brother's blood pressure a bit.
"Oi , England!" he yelled and the person in question look startled, and then scowled. He grinned, seemed he was beginning to catch onto "The Game", sheesh, it only took him a few decades. England continued on over to the bar as he had clearly intended to do in the first place. Australia couldn't miss the glance he had directed at America, that the other nation had been oblivious to.
He leaned conspiratorially towards the American, "Hey, I was thinking about England... maybe we should make his day a little brighter."
America snorted a little bit at the memory, "Hong Kong's idea had been pretty funny. He looks in a mood though today."
"When is England not in a mood?"
"True."
"And besides, I know how much you like making it up to him." America punched him in the shoulder, trying not to smile. Australia laughed, rubbing at the spot and complaining about how much it hurt.
"What did you have in mind?" he said, looking back towards the older nation who was now sitting under an umbrella, a large beer in hand.
"The pool."
"What about it?"
"England's going to be in it."
"And how're you going to accomplish that?" America asked, looking interested as he popped the lid off another soda.
"Just follow my lead, just be ready to catch him so the old man doesn't have a bloody heart attack."
"The hero is on board." he said, smiling a little in England's direction. Australia caught England's suspicion out of the corner of his eye, and it made him grin even wider. He leaned close with America and whispered the plan. He ignored the slight weight on the end of his pool lounger as they talked. A few more minutes and it was time to put the plan into motion.

They lounged about for a few minutes hoping that it would lull England into a false sense of security. It seemed that with the one beer down he decided to nap, perfect...
The entire plot went down almost too easily, but the result had been as satisfying as normal. All it had taken was a surreptitious meander over and a quick tip of a lounge chair and splash! England had been in the pool, coming up sputtering and looking surprised. "Australia!" he shouted, before he lost his footing in the deep end, which gave America his opening to "rescue" England from "drowning". The way England clung to him, it seemed the day was working out in everyone's favor. America got to be the hero and he got to rile his former mentor up. All was well.
After America and England, England had grumbled about "drying off", Australia couldn't think of how he was going to rib them for that later. However, just as he was about to drift off into a nice nap he found his world turned upside down and took a plunge into the cold water. He came up to discover that Canada had taken over his inner tube. "That's for not including me, eh?" he said softly.
Australia laughed and considered that dunking his other brother into the pool might leave a lot of fun for the rest of the day.
The End! I hope you enjoyed it and don't mind that I slipped England and Canada in there as well :)
