Summary: Based on a fic by n0t-again, Prussia and America meet up at a World 8 function and discuss “the Chinese food incident.”
Author’s note: the following is based on a fic by n0t-again called, “The Future's Uncertain But The End is Always Near” where Prussia introduces Austria to some take-out. Thanks also to Kat for pinking this for me & helping me with a title.
For n0t-chan, for letting me write a sequel to her fic…
“DUDE!” they cried, greeting each other enthusiastically at the annual World 8 barbeque. The two were dressed in identical lime green Hawaiian shirts covered in bright pink flowers. While it oddly complimented America’s faint tan and strawberry blond hair, on Prussia, it gave his snow white “tan,” as America called it, a faint sickly glow and completely washed out his hair.
“So, Dude, how’d Mr. Cranky McCrankypants like the Chinese and the fortune cookies?”
Prussia snorted. “He only at it when I told the fugal bastard it’d be a shame to waste it.” He held up an imaginary plate and mimicked Austria eating.
America chortled.
“And as for the cookies, totally wasted on him! I should have saved them for Hungary. She would have gotten a kick out of them.”
“Sorry, Dude!” America grinned. “Better luck next time.”
“Yeah!” Prussia chuckled. “So let’s get us a couple of beers and check out the spread.”
“Lead the way!” America said as the two of them headed over to where the food was set up. “Dude! You have to check out the Johnsonville brats!! I have it on good authority; they’ve been soaking them in beer overnight!”
“Awesomeness!!”
“I know, right?!”
Austria sat at table in the corner, under a fake palm tree. He was dressed in crisp white guayabera shirt and linen slacks, looking impeccable as always. He made a face when Prussia and America passed, and sipped his Mai Tai while he waited for Hungary to return with some food. “Plebeians…” he sniffed. He eyes swept the party, resting here and there on various groups of people. Now that Nordics were included in World 8 meetings, things were livelier than ever and he prayed to God that Denmark would behave himself and stay as far away from the “frat boy duo” as possible.
He turned his attention back to the table when he heard Hungary approach. However, Austria was unable to keep the disappointment off his face when he noticed she had company. “Hungary?”
“Hey, Specs! Long time no see.” Prussia grinned as he sat down at the table.
“Dude!” America sat and chowed down on his burger.
Hungary sighed as she sat. As much as she would have liked to have had a quiet evening with her ex-husband, there was no avoiding Prussia once he spotted her. So she gave him a warning look as they headed back to the table and an apologetic one to her ex when she sat down.
“So did you like the Chinese?” America said between bites.
“It was… okay,” Austria replied.
“Okay? Dude, that place makes the best sweet and sour chicken and moo shu pork!! At least you liked the fortune cookies, right?”
“They were,” Austria paused, “okay.”
“Okay?” Hungry said. “They were very funny.” She smiled.
“Told you she’d like ‘em,” Prussia said. He grinned and everyone laughed except Austria, who sat there quietly as they discussed their favorites, a smug smile on his lips while he thought about his favorites…
