Why This Must Be Read: Author's description: When a shipping magnate dies of a Chinese poison, London’s most famous detective Sherlock Holmes teams up with Joan Watson, the daughter of a Chinese diplomat, to solve the case. Battling crime lords, and each other’s passions these detectives may just change the course of history. I loved that stempunkmagic set this AU back in Victorian times, it is so well done. The way Joan and Sherlock interact is in character and very entertaining but they are also held in check (somewhat) by the societal conventions they are forced to attend to. At the same time they rebel against those conventions as they try to solve a mystery, and end up falling in love with each other. Honestly it is well written and a very intriguing read.
