Why This Must Be Read: A first-season AU, this fic uses a minor mystery to highlight all my favorite contradictions in Veronica and Weevil’s relationship: their bantering antagonism versus their shared love and loss of Lilly; the fact that they are both dangerous people with dangerous lives versus the way they are also just teenagers intrigued by each other. There’s a perfectly-in-character Veronica POV, dialogue that shows just how much Weevil gets her, and sweet, sharp, romantic sexual tension.
