Why This Must Be Read: Ooftah. The last couple years have been hard out here for a Belle/Rumpelstiltskin fan. The show's made a lot of odd choices and (unsurprisingly) not really followed up on a lot of themes and elements they introduced. This story does a lot of heavy lifting and solid work to mitigate that flakiness and lack of consistency. Remember doesn't shy away from canon and what's been established on the show, but it fills in the connective tissue that should be addressed. This is the "show, don't tell" narrative that I've been desperately craving. Let's put it this way, the secondary pairing in this is very much not my cup of tea, but the story doesn't ignore my concerns regarding that couple; it addresses all of them head-on. This is a fantastic fix-it story, and one that I heartily recommend.
