It's about growing up Lannister, it's about family and love and how that can ruin you in a million of ways. Includes the canon pairings and the story from the books in it's way.
Tyrion has Father's cunning and care, Sansa her mother's intelligence, and with that they manage not to ruin themselves as Cersei and Jaime have.
They ruin themselves in other ways, of course, but they are more private in their devastation than their golden fools of siblings.
