Why This Must Be Read: Most people in the BatCat fandom are familiar with this epic, I think. It is such a massive work that the author has broken it down into "books", available in e-reader formats, as well as a light version that just covers the basics. There is fanart and spin-offs and it just keeps growing. I just adore this series. It has all kinds of twists and turns, it will make you laugh at loud at parts and cry at others. You only need the barest knowledge of the comics to appreciate it so it makes it a fantastic fic for everyone (even people like me who have read the comics since I was a kid). Yes, it's an undertaking but it is well worth it!
