Why This Must Be Read: To be honest, I find it difficult to describe this story without making the OC, Hethlin, sound like a terrible Mary Sue. On paper, it may seem like she hits a lot of those cliches: traumatic past, unknowingly related (however distantly) to Aragorn, hiding her gender to become a part of Faramir's Rangers (with their full cognizance), unusual abilities, and so on. But Hethlin is a fully fleshed out, realistically flawed, genuinely noble character. The supporting cast is also fantastic--as with Hethlin, everyone in this story is very humanly written, with all their virtues and their foibles. My favorite part of this story though? Imrahil, Prince of Dol Amroth, and Faramir's uncle. Isabeau has taken a completely tertiary character and made him a vibrant, compelling character with a family that is impossible not to love. Many LotR OC stories tend to focus on the characters of the Fellowship or the Elves, but if you want a chance to spend some time with a different cast of characters--namely the Southern Rangers and the people of Dol Amroth--this is a story you'll want to read. I also feel like Wufei, in this story, undergoes a realistic change in his views--instead of holding on to his misogyny, he matures and comes to appreciate Sally's agency and her strength.

Why This Must Be Read: Words cannot describe how much I adore this story. The author does an amazing job of weaving a story wherein Hermione comes to befriend, and eventually fall in love with, Cedric during the events of the Goblet of Fire. The first 2 parts, which makes up the first story, "The Boy Who Died" follow canon events, but the continuation (the last 3 parts) assumes Cedric didn't die and that he's joining them for the events of The Order of the Phoenix. A seriously fantastic read.
