Will and Frank as bored beat-each-other-up-means-BFF (even if neither want to admit it) is awesome, and the idea of Sarah and Michelle trading tips on dealing with the men in their lives who, while dangerous and badass, are still dudes just makes my heart expand fifteen sizes and make me wanna make inaudible squealing noises while shoving my fist in my mouth.

Why This Must Be Read: This is a really thoughtful, good rewrite of the Harry Potter novels with a big mythological twist. It starts when Harry's quite small, and I love how historical facts and figures are put in. It's a much more muggle-integrated story, and one that I think hits a lot of salient problems I walked away from the books being uncomfortable about. VERY slow-burn romance!

Why This Must Be Read: I had to rec this story here because not only is it a fairly interesting, thoughtful exploration of the idea of a romantic dynamic between Justin and Alex (it's actually written completely straight-faced, and is weirdly respectful and innocent for it?), it's also a really fun analysis of fandom and the phenomenon of RPF in general. It's kind of fascinating because the "RPF" aspect is Justin and Alex's book alter-egos (it's a thing). It's just a really interesting reflexive look at the whole RPF phenomenon.

Day 14 - A fic for an Old School Fandom from back in the day.

Why This Must Be Read: I love that this story reads like an old arm-chair mystery, completely with village shenanigans, distant relatives, and Fraiser as a fish-out-of-water. I also quite love the Ben and Meg we get to see here. Both competent, smart, and strong, but serious in a way that I wish the show had explored more. This is a lovely, solid read, and one I'd recommend forever! (It was also the longest story written for this pairing for a long, LONG time.)

Why This Must Be Read: At last count, this story is over 1,400,000 words and NEWLY COMPLETE. It's intelligent, absorbing, tightly plotted, gorgeously executed, and the absolute first story that popped into my head at the word "epic". This sucker sprawls in every respect, ratcheting up stakes and tension along the way. It's not an easy ready, and definitely is a bumpy one, but damn is it satisfying.

It's sexy, funny, nostalgic, poignant, sweet, and manages to be a story TARDIS. It feels SO much longer than it actually is, and in the best possible way!

This really digs into the psychology of the idea of "same man, new face, but different!" It's a brutal set of stories, and they're both quite dark, but it really, truly digs into the fractured relationship between The Doctor and his selves, and the love he has for Rose.
