But neither of them are blind, or stupid, and that hint of "maybe" and "tomorrow" can sometimes be just as damaging as "never".

But it does such a good job of growing these characters, while still allowing for flaws. Also, it's ridiculously sexy.

Padme's whole life and situation CRUSH ME, but the almost-not-quite-totally-yes just breathes through this whole story, and breaks my heart.

Why This Must Be Read: I can't read a lot of Farscape fic because the aired canon is so genuinely satisfying that I don't need it. Which is why this story surprised and pleased me so much in that it actually reads like a lost episode. The author nails the characters, and while this isn't a huge make-out fest (and is possibly more gen?), the underlying certainty of Aeryn/John is a constant bedrock.
