This fic is funny and hot, not an easy feat to pull off. The dialogue is whip smart and the characterizations are perfect. I can't help but hope that something like this will happen in the show. (Even though Tina Fey says it never will. You have to love that so many people have asked about a Jack/Liz romance, right?)

Why This Must Be Read: It was so hard to pick my very first ship, it's hard to recall when I started shipping. I'm guessing it was in the 80's and involved brat pack movies. I always wondered what happened to the characters in St. Elmo's Fire. Did they stay in touch, were they still friends years later, and did anyone end up together? This fic answers many questions while giving us a brief glimpse of Wendy's life. It tells the story of a chance meeting of Wendy and Billy years after the movie ends and shows us that as Wendy grew up, she never outgrew her first love. I'm so happy someone wrote about these two reconnecting again and it is a lovely story.

I always hoped that Marty and Willie stayed in touch and this fic does a wonderful job of showing us one of their meetings in the future. A short and lovely glimpse of an enduring friendship and two people who despite everything are still in love with each other.

Why This Must Be Read: In the movies Marie and Scott never even speak to each other, and yet a great author can write a story that makes the pairing believable. I was so impressed with this fic, not only does she make the Scott/Marie pairing plausible, she makes it sweet and hot too. They share a unique connection when Logan and Jean start dating and through the heartbreak they find each other. And while Scott/Marie isn't the end game, it is the focal point of the story. I also really loved the secondary characters, Ororo is especially good in this. And you know a fic is good when you start shipping a pairing that has never occured to you before.

Why This Must Be Read: I still remember the first time I read this fic and how blown away I was by how talented andbless_mybaby is. Heroes had such a huge cast and the shipping possibilities where endless, but my preferred pairing was always Sylar/Claire. I love the idea of complete opposites becoming a couple. (I also really love a fun bad guy!) This fic takes place in the 5 Years Gone universe and shows how Sylar's obsession with Claire brings them together again. The story is dark, gritty, and so well written. Even if you don't like the pairing I encourage you to give this one a try, there are no hearts and flowers here, just two broken people drawn together by shared history and hate.

I once agreed that John/Angela PWP was out of the question due to the complexity of the characters and their dynamic. As always, as soon as I'd decided it was impossible, my brain started trying to figure out how to do it.
And this story is convincing! The author manages to take the incredible UST we see in the film and translates it into a sexy fic that is very believable. Beautiful and lyrical, a must read if you ship this pairing.
