Awesome recs! I look forward to finding the time to read them all.

At no point does Darcy brood. In fact, he smiles quite a lot. He is not at all Brontëan. Similarly, Elizabeth is never secretly in love with him, until she actually is. And the Bennets are not poor by any stretch of the imagination. They have a butler, a housekeeper and other servants! They do not live with pigs and chickens!

I get the sense you are not a fan of the 2005 adaptation. I don't care for it myself and that's putting it very mildly.

heh. i'm not particularly a fan of any of the adaptations (they all get things wrong in their own ways), or the fanon they've produced, but the 2005 version is particularly unrecognisable. however, the brooding reference has much more to do with the 1995 mini-series. what can i say? i'm a purist. :)

not an active one. i registered when it was the only way to access the stories. i was more active at hyacinth gardens before it died, and then AHA for a while.
