Why This Must Be Read: This is my all time favourite epic story in the BBT world. It takes off from late season 3, and spins a fantastic world where Penny embraces her inner warrior-strength, Leonard is forced to confront what a horrible friend/boyfriend he's been, and Sheldon grows up and lets the world touch his heart. What makes this story for me is that it is filled with so much beautiful and occasionally painful character insight, for the entire gang but especially Sheldon, Penny, and Leonard. The author is gently humorous and lets the characters and relationships develop through evolution, not contrivance. And the fic clocks in at a little over 90,000 words, so there's lots of funny, sweet, awkward, adorable Shenny goodness.
