Why This Must Be Read: Besides being absurdly hot, this fic has a lot of fun with one of the less violent/traumatizing remnants of Bucky's years as the Winter Soldier-an incredible facility with languages. Watching him and Natasha one-up each other is a delight, and I love how beautifully they complement one another.

Why This Must Be Read: Okay, there are a bajillion Bucky-in-recovery fics out there, and a large subset of those work off of the revelation that the backpack he was trying so hard to hold onto in Civil War was full of notebooks piecing together his memories. But I promise, this one is well worth your while-it's just the right amount of optimistic, just the right amount of domestic, and the ending is bound to make you smile.

Why This Must Be Read: I really enjoyed this little triptych, which digs into not just Bucky's recovery post-CACW but also Natasha's search for herself and how they ultimately fit together going forward (just like they always have). The writing is beautiful, and the emotion is deeply felt and deeply honest.

Why This Must Be Read: This fic has been on every Buckynat rec list I've seen since its publication, and every bit of the praise is deserved. It's an eloquent exploration of Bucky and Natasha together in the Red Room-but in the early 1960s, at the height of the Cold War, rather than in the previous decade (as in the comics) or after the fall of the Soviet Union (as implied in the movies). The ways in which the cracks of their perfect-operation façades show through are unforgettable, and there are some great illustrations to boot!
