Why This Must Be Read: Well, to start, the entire Dear Friend universe is amazing -- re-imagining Pawnee as kids at a summer camp was inspired, and Stillscape is a fic-writing genius. She writes AUs like it’s nobody’s business because she manages to keep the characters the same, de-ages them appropriately in this ‘verse but still manages to keep them themselves. This version of April & Andy doesn’t feel forced, it feels perfect for this moment, and the last line hammers home why the canon version of these two characters work so well together. Plus this was my Arbor Day gift in 2012, so I’m particularly inclined to love this. Also just go read the whole thing, which was recced here back in the day. It’ll take you a couple of days, but whatever.
