Balthier and Ashe snarking at each other is one of my favourite things to write, period. They never want to move on with the plot, because they're having too much fun exchanging words.

Well this was unique! I would read Balthier and Ashe snark until my eyes popped out of my skull, so if you're ever inclined to just ignore the whole 'plot' thing in favor of that...I say go for it :)

I blame/thank mithrigil for "my" Ashe - she's the writer I've probably read the most of, and her Ashe is exceedingly strong and stubborn and willful, not always in a good way, and I love it.

Traps are THE ultimate plot device. I've seriously seen them used for this, genderswap, basically anything.
