"I'm not as clumsy as my mother!" Qi Yue insisted, scrunching her face together to show her frustration with the teasing Ahmon.
"Maybe not," he shrugged as his chopsticks swirled his noodles around in his bowl. "But you're still clumsy."
"I--!"
"And you're both innocent. You don't believe that bad people exist. Just people who are victims of bad communication. Am I right?"
She didn't want to say he was right. It only gave him a sense of smug satisfaction that drove her all the more crazy. Luckily, at that moment, her mother decided to come back from the kitchen, sighing in relief after remembering to turn off the gas. The rest of the dinner was filled with cheerful chatter, mostly coming from her mom. Very little was said by either her or Ahmon. Ahmon wasn't much of a talker, and Qi Yue was too preoccupied with thinking about what Ahmon had said to her in private.
He didn't bring it up again, which only annoyed Qi Yue more. The devil of a boy was smug enough to fall asleep on her couch while her mother did the dishes, leaving Qi Yue to stare at his undeniably gorgeous sleeping face. She was positive he did it on purpose.
If she had been more careful, she wouldn't have fallen for such an infuriating person. A person who didn't respect her, who always teased her, who laid claim on her as if she were a piece of cake in a bakery. If she had been paying attention to what kind of person Ahmon was, she was certain she wouldn't have grown to like him as much as she had. She was positive, as she stared down at his barely parted lips breathing in and out slowly, that if she was a more careful person, she wouldn't have fallen in love with him. She supposed she was the kind who saw with her heart instead of her head.
"You're right," she whispered, her fingers raising up to barely brush his bangs out of his serenely closed eyes. She lowered her lips to his ear, wanting to whisper the secret she kept so dear to the person she kept most dear. "I'm very clumsy..."
"...mmm..." A mumble from him elicited a giggle from her.
A final sweet smile came across her face: "But I don't mind."
