rewatching The X-Files

This year marked the 20th anniversary of the beginning of The X-Files. This was my first online fandom. I think I was like a lot of people who couldn't make it to the bitter end. I can't remember exactly when I dropped out -- I liked Doggett, but I was already burned out on the sloppy mythology and, to be honest, the Mulder/Scully dynamic. And I ( Read more... )

14. Every time Skinner shows up, one of us ends up saying, "Skinner...he's such a man."

I HAVE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR OVER A DECADE, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN???

Egads. Skinner and Krycek are the reasons I ever got my ass online. Seriously, you wouldn't know me at all had it not been for Skinner's...everything.

"Skinner...he's such a man."

Amen, sister.

Forget M/S, I would have paid money for Skinner to toss Mulder over his desk and have his (manly) way with him.

Skinner could get ALL the booty on the show: Mulder, Scully, Krycek... Simultaneously, even!

"What is the deal with Mulder? He should have been fired 19 times already."

And that was just in season 1. Mr. Hesychasm is a smart cookie ;)

I'm soon to do some re-viewing myself soon, since I signed up for xf_santa. Whenever I do, I'm always surprised by my reactions, possibly because when I was watching in real time, I was not paying that much attention to the actual case plots.

It's actually been interesting watching the show through his eyes. There's still something so appealing about it even to present-day TV-watching sensibilities, which I never would have thought in my bitter phase.

I feel like I've been paying more attention to the cases this time as well. Most of them were pretty good in their own right, and would be very watchable if I caught them in re-runs for instance.
