Oh, man. I finally got into Pottermore and was happily clicking around, then left the house to run an errand, and now I'm back and the site is down for updates. Where is magic when you need it

I now want to round off this Balogh binge by re-reading A Summer to Remember. Hee!
I started out merely rolling my eyes at Joseph, but when he resumed his engagement I really disliked him. I know it was telegraphed all through the sex scene with Claudia that this was probably going to happen, and I know he had to do it as a gentleman, but like, WHAT? It was made clear more than once what his terms were and it was clear his fiancee was never going to agree to them. How the hell did they end up still engaged? And THEN, when the fiancee runs off with McLeith (yeah, RIGHT), he has the thought that maybe he should go after her! OMGWTF, she was completely horrible and rude about his daughter, WHY WHY WHY.
I think I put up a huge mental shield in any scene involving his daughter. I just...I am not sure what Balogh's thing is with physical disability, as it pops up a lot in her books, with varying degrees of fail. I guess it's an interesting way to look at people coping with disability in a society that just isn't equipped to help them or support them, and I give her the benefit of the doubt in terms of motive. But then sometimes she just makes it so ickily wrong (e.g. Silent Melody) and I want to be like, you really should have tried harder, or perhaps not at all.
