I'm really sorry about this, and also feel ashamed and embarrassed that people are offering supportive comments to the poster. I mean, really. Yeah. Although it is sort of like, I knew all of this intellectually, but man, it's a whole new thing to get slapped in the face with it.

Now that I've calmed down some, I do think it's interesting the different perspectives people have about why this is or isn't or should or shouldn't be a big deal. I mean, still in the way that makes me look askance at certain opinions I've seen around, but interesting.
