Cupertino is as sunny as ever. ♥ and crashing at my grandmother's while hunting around for an apartment is pretty amazing, i have to say. home-cooked za jiang mian? yes, please.
she's an interesting character, my grandmother. for someone who grew up with servants and chauffeurs and all that jazz, she's pretty chill and down-to-earth. she's nearing eighty but fit enough to cavort around as she pleases -- driving her twenty-something-year-old Mercedes Benz, puttering around in her rose garden, and hopping around the world via cruise ship. she refuses to use computers and still stares at her cell phone like it's about to bite her. she has a fondness for brand names that she can never remember. ("i really like your wallet, grandma." "oh, i've had it for years! it's uh-- what's it. not Fendi." *flips it open* "Ferragamo, grandma." "so it is!") her perfume collection consists of Chanel and YSL and Estee Lauder. and she insists that black is the best color. (of course, i concur!)
we went shopping today, since the strap on
my Fakeagammo bag finally snapped. i was sadface for a while (since i've been using it everyday for the past two years), but then we went to Nordstrom's and everything was fixed. my eye landed on a sleek, black Longchamp bag that looked lonely and out of place among the shiny-hardware-blinged-out bags, and when the sales associate eagerly mentioned "leather" and "scratch-resistant" and "free care and repair," i was sold. this is my first investment bag! (ain't buying another bag for at least ten more years, guys.)

on a work-related note, i had lunch and spent a bit of the afternoon on Friday with T (the guy who'll be teaching me everything i need to know at the office). he's very chill and friendly and super-helpful in showing me around the area (including Apple's various offices). also, he owns a townhouse in Milpitas (or is it Mountain View? can't remember), and one of the guys who's renting a room there is looking to move out soon. so, i may not even have to settle for an apartment with sketchy management. *crosses fingers* although he was all, "is that too much? are we going to get sick of seeing each other all the time?" and i was like, "dude, i don't care."
there might've been a strange flirty vibe to it all, but i've been so long out of the circuit (was i ever really in it?) that i honestly have no idea. (he kept saying how i'm much more interesting than he originally anticipated. LOL, little does he know.) well, whatever. he's probably just being a big-brotherly type.
anyway, have a gander at Dunhill's recent strategy of foregoing the photos of blackened lungs and coughing children, and just going with BOLD PLAIN TEXT (again). because, you know, it's that much more effective. lol. at least it's making my smoke breaks more aesthetically pleasing than before.
