something new
this is kind of a message in a bottle, but i wanted to ramble a little about the Inception fic realm.
i think it's superb and scary and fantastic and a whole lot of other adjectives.
and, of course, there are those authors who are prolific and brilliant, to the point where you think they can almost sate your never-ending thirst for amazing Inception fics. (at least, the ones featuring your OTP which is Eames/Arthur.)
you know, like weatherfront, knowmydark, gyzym, hackthis, foxxcub, jibrailis, kirstenlouise.
anyway, you see my point.
after inundating myself in their fic, i had to move away for a bit. kind of like that one summer where i checked out every single Murakami book available from my uni library, and then couldn't touch another for months afterward. overload. or hangover. either way.
and i love the surprises that i'm finding. (i think the bulk of the fandom - including me - is so hinged on Eames/Arthur that nearly every other pairing is left on the wayside. but there might be a turnaround, with all the Yusuf/Ariadne prompts that are suddenly appearing in Round 10 on inception_kink.)
like the-azure-blue's quiet and woefully underrated story: Reflections of Men.
it's Eames/Robert & Robert/Browning, which i'd never thought i'd go for. but a random click, and there i was.
i hope i'm not coming off as a hipster reccer, reccing the under-recced for the sake of seeming oh-so-cool. i just feel that i've been burying my ostrich head in a giant hole in the ground. and am now only realizing there are lots of other holes, and who knows what might be in them? (oh god, that was the worst analogy ever. forgive me.)
so, what i'm really getting at is, please rec to me any Inception fics that unexpectedly wowed you / changed your perception / are under-appreciated. i feel there are so many authors out there who don't get the recognition they deserve. <3
(edit: wtf, karma. i just finished posting this and discovered that gyzym posted a 10,000-word, not-even-done fic, which is about Arthur as a film producer and Eames as an actor. she kids you not -- a fic about filmmaking from a film about filmmaking. i think i need a gin & tonic. in a good way, though.)
and just so this LJ isn't entirely about Inceptiondom, here are a few photos i took while walking around sipping lattes trekking through two of my favorite cities.
(tidbit: i'm a USA-er based in Shenzhen (SZ) for work, with an unhealthy attachment to black & white photography.)
