hey, so i was scrolling through the NY Times, and saw this contest going on:
MODERN LOVE: College Essay Contest. for some reason, they want to know about young love (or heartbreak or suppressed love-anger), and the winner gets $1000 and publication of his/her story in the Times in May. i know some of you are still undergrads, so GET TO IT. :DD
(trust me, i read the first three paragraphs of the previous contest's winner, and man, you guys are so much better. ♥ 1.5 - 1.7k word limit? psh, that's nothing in fandom.)
deadline is March 31st. only open to US citizens, unfortunately. sorry, Aussie/Brit/SE-Asian compadres. :(
(it's a good thing this didn't happen a year earlier, because i probably would've submitted something similar to the diatribe i wrote in high school, which was basically a lot of Dido!rage directed at Aeneas. my English teacher was a little concerned for me after that.)
