meme: this year in fic
[nicked from

Total number of completed stories: 8
Total word count: 8,876 (ahahaha. so sad.)
Overall Thoughts
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
more. because eight is more than zero. Inception unexpectedly provided a whole new fandom for me to lurk participate in. previously, i spent more time out in the real world, as well as reading every single CSI Nick/Greg story in existence. remind me to make a reclist for that.
What's your own favorite story of the year?
uhm. i'm going to have to go with
A Cossack in Odessa. that one really came out of left field. it's riddled with too many epithets and perhaps too skeletal in terms of structure, but it pushed me to do something different. marked a new direction for my writing.
Did you take any writing risks this year?
jesus, i feel that every one of my attempts to write fic is a risk in itself. but i suppose portraying Eames as a Nazi soldier falls into that territory. i didn't know how people would react to that.
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
you should know that i am terrible at both making and sticking to any kind of resolution. like on a buy more socks, then failing to buy them kind of level. so, no, no goals whatsoever. (i'm amazed i've gotten this far in life, actually.)

Best & Worst Of
My best story of this year:
(i am already semi-regretting doing this meme. man, having only eight to choose from is boring, guys. prepare for repetition.)
A Cossack in Odessa, based vaguely on a length:quality ratio. and did i mention that it stemmed from watching the Discovery channel, which is a rather kickass channel?
My most popular story of this year:
according to the number of comments, OMGs, and Delicious bookmark tallies,
Reciprocity.
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
i honestly don't think any of them are under-appreciated. (some may even be over-appreciated.) but, for the sake of giving an answer,
An Emperor and the Soul Within, purely for the rarepair factor.
Most fun story to write:
hm. if by 'most fun', you mean 'involved the least amount of headaches and writer's block', then
Reciprocity. i did enjoy taking crack to the next level, topping even the ridiculousness of
Inspiration. i am without shame, apparently.
Story with the single sexiest moment:
*the chirping of crickets*
Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story:
UH, THIS STORY HAS YET TO EXIST? unless you have strong feelings about a certain character being an AU!Nazi.
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
Attraction. i'd never paid any much attention to Cobb prior to writing this, but i rather like seeing Cobb in a warm, positive, non-crazy light.
Hardest story to write:
A Cossack in Odessa. it took me, like, an entire month.
Biggest Disappointment:
An Interview, To Say The Least. not as clever or funny as it could've been. but i'd written it solely to distract myself from my other WIPs (and possibly express some underlying rage at fandom and tropes in general), so i'm just going to leave it be.
Biggest Surprise:
Attraction. seriously. i look at it and wonder about myself. a lot.
Most Unintentionally Telling Story:
all my crack. because that is actually how i communicate with people in real life.
hah. apparently, i'm not as MIA as i said i'd be. eljay, you are too addictive.
