two films i saw recently that, in their own certain and uncertain ways, were deftly done.
the scenes, the mood, the subtleties - all worth remembering.

I'm so sad that I haven't seen these movies. The second one, at least, is on my list of Things To See. I only skimmed your reviews because I love to be surprised, but rest assured that your endorsement has just catapulted these movies to the top of my List.

Have you seen The Secret In Their Eyes? That movie blew my mind. Absolutely. :)

oh, and "Frozen River"! (another quietly devastating film, about Native Americans smuggling people across the Canadian border.) not as powerful as WB, though. i have a feeling that most people would be eh about AGT, but i'm glad you're giving it a chance. <3

!! i saw TSITE last week at the nearby maybe-legal-maybe-not DVD store. but unfortunately didn't pick it up. will definitely have to do so next week. ;)

i just thought you should know that i had a nightmare about The Secret in Their Eyes, even though i have not seen it yet. lol. it was filled with apocalypse anxiety and zombies. Mal was undead and evil. and there were children scrabbling at the locked door of our safe room. (so either this is a manifestation of writer's block...or the result of reading frantic's zombie fic.) clearly, i should've IMDB'd the plot summary before going to sleep. :P

Never heard of this one before till last night when it was given accolades by a New York film critc on NPR. He thought it one of the best of the year. Now with your comment and his, I can't wait to view it. Also, thanks for mentioning "Frozen River". Another I had not heard of, yet, right up my alley.
