Just got back from E's Rites of Passage weekend at Diana's Grove. I hope to have some more coherent thoughts on the event itself later this week. For now, suffice it to say that it was a pretty amazing experience and I felt honored to witness the process that she and the other members of the Rites team went through. I was also pleased to have been able to help out with some of the setup and other support things that went into the work of the weekend. Fortunately, the people planning such things are smart enough to take me at face value when I say that I'm best used in a role of labor, and most assuredly not management, when it comes to such things. Hauling plants and large portions of trees? Awesome. Collecting pillars to hold large candles? Excellent. Making any decisions about how to actually arrange any of these things in an aesthetically pleasing way? Not my thing. Happily enough there are some folks there who can point and say, "Put it down over there. No, turn it 35 degrees. Now go get another one." :)
