Name: Gemmi999 Age: 25 Favourite Bands: My Chemical Romance; Ludo; A Rocket to the Moon; Jack's Mannequin; Every Avenue; taylor swift; Rascal Flatts; broadway musicals Do you read bandom fics (and favourite pairings if so): yes, mostly MCR. Um, Frankie is my favorite. Something random about yourself: I love trans!fic and genderqueer fic and yeah. Social theory is my secret love. = ]
Okay, honestly? When I read an article a few months ago about how Broadway is closing doors on a lot of shows because the economy, I thought my heart would just break into a thousand little pieces. I don't talk about it a lot, but Spring Awakening and Rent! and Avenue Q and Wicked and Jersey Boys and a zillion others totally got me through high school/college/life in general!
And, just to brag (because i'm a bitch like that)--I'm seeing Every Avenue and Rocket in March! Yay!
I will not lie, I've been hooked on Cats since elementary school and after one musical, you never look back.
In March, I'm (most likely) seeing This Prov and Sing It Loud and Morning Light (and Ludo, but I'm not realy into them).
I'll see Rocket in April and I don't think I'll see Every Avenue again until Warped, but *shrugs* I'll take them where I can get them. They're a pretty cool band.
I totally <3 Ludo because they're such dorks; same reason I like MCR.
I just found out that the same weekend I'm seeing Every Avenue and Rascal Flatts (the same show that Nick is going to, actually!), The Academy Is... and This Providence (i think?) is doing their accuoustic show. I'm debating if 3 concerts in 3 days is really the best idea (especially considering money and stuff).
I've never heard of Morning Light and Mayday Parade, so I will definitely check them out. I can always use new bands to listen to!
I've never seen/heard Cats. My first musical was Rent! all the way back in high school. We used to be really obnoxious and sing it in restaurants and stuff. Parents covered their kids ears. It was priceless in the "i can't believe i was such a brat" way. = ]
My mom surprised me one time and took me to see Cats for my birthday. I've seen some of the classics on travelling Broadway (Cats, Annie, The Sound of Music, of course I can't think of hardly any right now). I live much too far away to see them on actual Broadway (I live in SC).
And yeah, check out Mayday Parade especially. Musically and lyrically I am blown away by them sometimes. (Do you listen to Panic at the Disco or The Cab?)
My two favourite movie musicals? Rocky Horror Picture Show pretty much got me through high school; Every Friday night we'd go see the movie/stage show at a local theater and do the virgin games and shit.
Hedwig and the Angry Inch -- a lot of my friends from college were all about gender awareness and transgender awareness and human sexuality awareness and this was always on in somebody's room, somewhere.
I like Sound of Music, but I'm not big on a lot of classical musical stuff. Didn't like My Fair Lady, Mary Poppins, etc. I'm so used to musicals being about queer related issues, or modern topics, that to see older ones just seems a little weird. If there could be a queercore version of musicals? That's probably what I'd listen to the most.
I don't really know a lot of The Morning Light's stuff. I only know a song or two, but my sister likes them so I am more than happy to let her go see them.
I LOVE everything Mayday does. Make sure to check out: "If You Wanted A Song Written About You, All You Had To Do Was Ask" and "When I Get Home, You Are So Dead"
Panic is my favourite band. I like the old stuff, the new stuff, those weird bits from in between, and everything they've covered. It's a bad case of addiction over here.
As for The Cab, I love every pop-rock-soul thing they've done as well, but I prefer their album Whisper War to the EPs. Three out of five of them are named Alex. Then there is Cash and Ian. (Singer) Alex and Cash started the band. Cab, get it? Cash and Alex's Band
