i've been out to eat, to the pharmacy, have bought shiny/colorful things & replacement toiletries, etc. but have not even gone to whole foods or made many phone calls -- except to the UCD residency officer, who seems to have taken an untimely vacation! poo on her.
my PA friend's wedding went quite well; that was a hectic couple of days.
was glad to be there, help out and enjoy yet not carry much responsibility. her parents were really cute, glad to meet me and quite candid and entertaining in a way that sometimes embarrassed someone else but pleasantly reminded me of my own parents, heh.
later in the evening, i did the macarena and represented single young ladies everywhere while attracting some looks of pity and/or concern and drinking, which may have helped offset any uncomfortable 'odd one out' feelings...
i haven't been to many weddings, period, but especially not in recent history. hmmm.
anyway, let me know if you'd like my home phone # at my mom's if you don't have it already.
and for you ladies gearing up to visit NYC, have a great trip!!
i'm SO ready NOT to travel far from austin over the next few weeks.
p.s. i'm not certain how much processing of my PC experience i'm going to continue to do, but i've definitely already had people / casual acquaintances ask about how it was, clearly expecting a single sentence-length answer...
and fyi: no, it's really not that weird to be back.
sure, it's v. different here than in the west indies; but i visited the States during my service, for one thing; and wasn't really cut off from the outside world, for another... not to mention the humidity and mosquitoes that are also present here in central TX.
but yes, i will miss the island and my friends and i surely left a piece of my heart in dominica.
it may have gone missing in the dampish rainforest interior somewhere.
