Don't try this at home Originally uploaded by
tricky (sovietuk). Well, at least info does keep trickling in that narrows my options, even though I am on 2 waiting lists and haven't heard from 6 of 15 schools--and won't know about need-based aid offerings for a while.
For one thing, at this point, my dream school (Berkeley) has rejected me. No surprise there.
Some tier 1 mid-range/also 'REACH' schools that haven't yet rendered (or at least not delivered to me...) their admission decisions may be unlikely to accept me and are also not esp. tempting to me at this point (e.g. Wash. U in St. Louis & Emory), mostly for reasons of location & my lack of ability to visit them this spring (I don't want to live in the Midwest and even though Emory is good, I've never been to GA at all and I probably don't want to wind up in the SE USA long-term either... but who's to say?).
GWU will probably reject me--after all, American wait-listed me and they are both private schools in DC *but *GWU is more competitive and ranked higher.
UT will likely reject me [not to think negatively, just being realistic / looking at the #'s!!).
Oregon may accept me, but depending a little on financial aid packages and further analysis, I might be likelier to choose Lewis & Clark.
And then all that remains is Golden Gate, my ultimate 'safety' that hasn't been in touch for *months* since I applied (they emailed saying my file was complete well before Xmas--and yes, I did try emailing their admissions office last week to follow up; no answer). Dunno what to think about that, but if I really wanted, I suppose I could visit them next month. Meh. They're the only tier 4 school to which I applied and even McGeorge (the next-lowest ranked) is tier 2 so they'd have to offer me some seriously significant $$ & honors program incentive, I'd say; I'm not deadset on studying in the Bay Area.
But we'll see what I think of Santa Clara... not to mention McGeorge & Davis (grrrrrowl).
Basically, unless I somehow get into UT, I'm going to say it's likeliest that I'll wind up @L&C; or Davis if they let me in off the wait list before mid-July & I still care... But I will have to see what I think of McG & SC when I visit b/c after all, I COULD fall in love!
EDIT: Another PCV just called me from the office to inform me that there's a packet from Golden Gate's financial aid office in my mailbox... hmmm. I'll have to fetch that a little later today! I have a bill to pay and groceries to get anyway.
