I 'did' this questionnaire last year, inspired by Jenna.
And WOOSH, here I am again...
~*~*
Did you keep your new year's resolutions?
Nyeh; I purposefully kept them vague so as not to 'fail' two years in a row, heh.
But I'd say I made some personal progress and took better care of myself in some ways. Of that I'm glad.
What are your resolutions for 2007?
Eat well and be physically active; work HARD more often-->challenge myself; continue to nurture important friendships/relationships. Finalize my tatoo design & location.
Maybe let people 'in' a little more--I'll have to think on that more first though.
What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
I 'bonded' with my cousin Margaret, took antidepressants and cried while viewing 'Pollyanna'; these are not in chronological order, nor did they take place simultaneously. :)
What dates from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory?
Ummm... just a few, and they aren't really a big deal (6/12, 7/30, 10/28, 11/12 & 12/1)--I'll have to check back in over a year and see if they're still 'etched;' I don't always associate memories with specific dates.
What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I felt conflicted about hitting 25, but mostly because of it sounding so mature/grown-up to me. I thought on some level that I should be more freaked out or motivated by it than I was, but got over that. A week after my bday, I went out w/PCV pals and some slept over.
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting a counterpart's website fixed? Or no, maybe teaching a real live Pilates session... or making a pretty laminated poster so that it could be mashed up & stolen?? I dunno.
Oooh, or keeping a secret that I kept thinking I might want to spill.
Or staring down a cat-sized rat in a manner that frightened it away.
Oh, I got it: perfecting the art of handwashing in the tub & of doing nothing, w/pleasure.
What was your biggest failure?
Got 'fat.' Didn't integrate very thoroughly in my village or take many social 'risks' socially. Succombed to old/bad habits for quite a while. Self-criticizing unconstructively too much.
What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
Another occupation. Something more consuming to some degree, but also more regimented.
What would you like to have less of in 2007 that you had in 2006?
Questioning every step in a particular direction I head and sometimes reacting to my life as if difficult decisions I make are bound to be 'wrong'; being overly cautious in protecting time that I nonetheless waste.
What do you wish you'd done more of?
Hiking, working out in general, savoring food in moderation, applying myself to solve problems creatively. Reading & writing. Spending QT with friends/loved ones.
What do you wish you'd done less of?
Sitting; re-watching DVDs... except not really. :) Honestly? Just wish there'd been less worrying.
What did you want and get?
Valuable cultural lessons, some male attention. A new task-oriented part-time assignment.
What did you want and not get?
Peace of mind; a sense of major accomplishment; certainty about what I want to do & achieve in the future.
Did you fall in love in 2006?
Nope.
Whose behavior merited celebration?
Errr, I'm sure lots of people's. I'll go with... each of my parents, in v. different ways.
What new people did you meet?
Alissa, Kate R., Volunteers from EC-76; Jack the sub. minister; Allen; a nice family from Fairbanks...
Did anyone close to you give birth?
No, but some are engaged.
Did anyone close to you die?
No.
Any travel?
To St. Lucia, Austin, the Fla. Keys and NJ/NYC.
Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing insufferable. ;-P~
What was the best thing you spent money on?
Gifts (like t-shirts, a batik wall hanging & locally made bamboo/bead earrings), a ticket to the Shaggy concert during Creole Fest, rum, and a round trip to Austin(!).
Your favorites in 2006:
Books: The Memory Keeper's Daughter; A Walk in the Woods (I was a wee bit behind on that one)
Movies: umm, I'm out of the loop, but I got a copy of X3 and liked it...
TV shows: N/A--just the old faithfuls: MSCL, SATC, and Felicity.
Music: reggae mix of 'sexual healing' (ironically), george michael's 'freedom,' DCFC, and _walk the line_ soundtrack.
Valuable life lessons you learned in 2006.
Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. - Albert Einstein.
'It's the life you've made. Don't act like it's not yours.' - Patricia Clarkson to Dermot Mulroney in the _Safety of Objects_, brunch restaurant/bar scene. {I'm still absorbing/'learning' this...}
