The Righteous Prick of the Hedgehog

Here is the poem I wrote for Lady Livia's procession at the Pas du Forest sumthin French event last month.  Nice event.  Lady Livia authorized as a heavy fighter for the first time and proceeded to win the awards for Best Countenance and Most Magnificent.  (And no, it wasn't because of my poem-  it was because of her righteous prick).
Again, the documentation is not included.  It is available upon request for true poetry geeks.

The Righteous Prick of the Hedgehog
Form and structure based on  a 15th century poem by George Ashby
Written by Master Dunstan Le Heryngmongere
in honor of The Honorable Lady Livia Zanna, Hedgehog extraordinaire.

In summers midst the stalwart fighters come
Great warriors upon this tourney field
They battle under blistering hot sun
Each strong of arm and steadfast with a shield
Each bears intent to fight and never yield
Of all, one stands as strong and fierce and quick
Beware this mighty hedgehog’s righteous prick!

With prowess does this beastie brightly shine
In skill unmatched this warrior will fight
In countenance the hedgehog is most fine
In brightest day or faded evening light
Its skill and beauty ever is in sight
Ere burning like the candle’s flaming wick
Beware this mighty hedgehog’s righteous prick!

In chivalry this noble urchin beams
No creature holding courtesy more high
With grace to fill the noblest of dreams
Inspiring all who hold the virtues nigh
Magnificent as summers starlit sky
One stands above the rest in glory’s pick.
Beware the mighty hedgehog’s righteous prick!
