You Leave Me Breathless

I have always felt like it makes me a bad beauty maven to detest Bobbi Brown and her never ending boring neutral makeup.

I do hate it.  I have nothing against neutral makeup, I, in fact, have been known to wear neutral makeup on occassion.

But something about Bobbi Brown just makes me cringe.  It's like, the makeup that makes you look like you're not wearing makeup!  And sooooo damn expensive.  If I'm going to spend $22 on a lipstick, it better make my lips look like Betty Boops.  Why spend $22 when I can spend $14 at MAC and get color?

I guess the biggest reason I hate Bobbi Brown is that I view her line as being makeup for people who are afraid of makeup.  And I don't understand that concept.  I have a dear friend who is afraid of makeup.  She'll buy it, and then never use it.  I have advised her, since HIGH SCHOOL, to just lock herself in the bathroom one day and play with her makeup and have fun.  Just go nuts.  It's only makeup, and it WASHES off.  She never has.  She still buys expensive makeup, and never uses it.

Now, I understand not liking makeup.  I do.  Some women just do not like it.  That's fine.  I'd rather you not like it than be afraid of it.

It's just some color.  And it will wash off.  I promise you.  And here's the thing, if you want to wear it, and wear it well, it's going to take practice.  And if you don't want to practice in public, wear it around the house until you get comfy with it.

Unless, of course, you wear it, and decide that you just really don't like this stuff, and it's not for you.  Then put it away, and just remember that you do have to wear sunscreen, and that goes for your lips as well.  And if your hair is up, don't forget your ears!  And neck.
