Is a lie. A lie I tell you! As any woman who has been pregnant can tell you, if they suffered at the hands of this unfourtunate side effect, it's all a fucking lie cause it never strikes just in the morning, it's in the afternoon, at night, in the middle of the night, while you are at work, while you are trying to cook dinner, while you are out at the store. It's a fucking nusance. Now, I'm 9 weeks pregnant right now, 10 weeks as of Thursday. I've been having morning sickness since I was 3 weeks. This is bullshit. This is supposed to last only through the first trimester so I have another month of this crap. Unless I am one of those unlucky bastards that get it throughout the entire pregnancy. I am praying to anything that will listen, fuck, I will pray to damn Cuthulu, just as long as this ends soon.
Yes yes, I know, it will be over soon and I'll have a sweet little baby to show for it but FUCK! Do you know what I do for a living? I count shit. I work for an inventory company. For those of you who have never worked retail, this is what happens, a retail store like BIG NAME CHAIN needs to make sure that what their system says they have and what they actually have matches. There is always variance, meaning paperwork errors, theft, etc. So some BIG NAME CHAINs hire other companies to come in and count all their things. You know, to make sure that their employees aren't fibbing or something. So I'm that person you see with some weird machine stapped to them, a weird finger laser sometimes on their finger, scanning and muttering numbers to themselves. This is not a hard job, it's easy, mindless, makes the shifts go by super fast. Most of the time you don't realize that 5 hours has gone by and you are getting a 10 minute break cause well, you just want to finish counting and go home. Or to the next job, depending, I sometimes work multiple shifts in a day.
Now, this is not a hard job. It's easy. Unless you are not a morning person by nature and have to get up at 3:30am to be at work in some weird part of the state at 5am. That's not always the case, start times for work can vary greatly, sometimes I don't got into work until 10pm.
But this morning sickness? It's not cool. Considering one of the tactics to fighting it off is to get lots of rest and to not leap up out of bed the moment you wake up. I don't always have that luxury. And then once I get to work I have to be constaintly guaging how I feel and know where all toilets, sinks, and trashbins are, just in case. Cause I'll tell you one thing, in the past six weeks, I've seen a lot of different toilets and thrown up in nearly every single one. It's really sad that I am now learning which foods taste best the second time around and which ones are just terrible. (Oatmeal is a good choice for flavor, but consitency vetos it off the 'safe' list.) I mean, it really sucks to be working, have to run to the toilet, get sick, come back and drink a shitload of water so in case I get sick again, I have something to throw up other than bile, then go back to work. I mean, I even have to be careful about hiccups now, I hiccuped today and nearly lost my breakfast. The manager of the store I was at was all, "Why do you want a trashbin?" Me: "Cause I don't want to make a mess on your floor if I don't make it to the toilet. Now bring me a trashbin you silly girl!" Honestly!
Oh, and if you offer me crackers,
