Fallout Boy, meet Pip Boy

So Fallout Boy seems to be considered as one of the epitomal emo bands these days. In general, I have as little respect for the emo "movement" as anybody, but I try not to judge a band based solely on it's fans.

However, their vocal tracks don't deserve to exist in the same universe as the rest of their music. If I had karaoke versions of their songs, with the vocal tracks turned off, I'd probably love them. The music is actually really cool.

But my God... The lyrics are horrible, the singer's voice is just really pedestrian, and the vocal melodies are bland. All of this I might forgive if the music behind it matched, if it was just generic pop/punk/alt rock/whatever. However, those pathetic vocal tracks are utterly ruining otherwise awesome pieces of music.

I formed this opinion of a couple of their songs, which I kept hearing on the radio, long before I actually knew those songs were by Fallout Boy or that Fallout Boy was supposed to be "emo", so I claim independence from that bias.

Plus, the name of their band always makes me think of the Fallout games, which are among the most awesome RPGs ever. This mental association perturbs me.
